Job description

Responsibilities

  1. Advising management where necessary on a wide range of security-related events, specific to the organization and its various operations which impact on the safety of university personnel/property.
  2. Perform security awareness briefs, training and orientation to all new staff/personnel and or student to conform to the university internal security needs as assigned by the supervisor.
  3. Performs supervisory and shift duties as the Head of Department.
  4. Carry out investigation of security-related incidents involving staff personnel, student personnel or visitors.
  5. Protect university properties against loss and damage.
  6. Investigate and document security breaches and incidents.
  7. Respond to security incidents, investigating violations and contributing to disciplinary or legal actions as necessary.
  8. Participate in carrying out intelligence gathering and investigations
  9.  Maintain an up-to-date record of security incidents and trends.
  10. Supervisory/oversight roles over the other security personnel. i,e the security guards
  11. Perform any other relevant duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or any social science (OR a diploma in lieu of the above in a security-related discipline or social science) from an accredited university.
  • Have served for a period of five (5) years in similar position 
  • Those with training on CCTV have an added advantage.
  • Have a clean record of discharge from any of the disciplined forces/services
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate
  • Provide letters from three referees providing their contacts
  • Provide letter from the Local Area Administration. 
  • Preferably male.
